AFI Fest 2007 Honors Deneuve and Linney
(released 10/18/2007)

AFI Fest 2007, now in its 21st year, takes place from November 1-11, 2007 at the ArcLight Theatres and the Linwood Dunn Theatre in Hollywood. The opening night film is Lions for Lambs by Robert Redford and the closing film is Love in the Time of Cholera by Mike Newell. This will be the North American premieres for both films.

Also highlighting the festival will be tributes to Catherine Deneuve and Laura Linney.

The Tribute to Laura Linney will take place at ArcLight Hollywood on Friday, November 9, 2007. This tribute to and discussion of the Oscar nominated actress' career will precede the screening of Tamara Jenkins' The Savages, a drama focusing on a sister and brother (played by Linney and Philip Seymour Hoffman) who must face the realities of familial responsibility as they begin to care for their ailing father.

On Saturday, November 10, The Tribute to Catherine Deneuve will take place at the ArcLight. Persepolis, which was recently announced as France's official entry for the Academy Awards, will screen immediately following the tribute. The animated French/Iranian production, directed by Mariane Satrapi and Vincent Parranoud, is a poignant story of a precocious and outspoken young Iranian girl who comes of age during the Islamic Revolution.
